Studying for your LLM is an investment in your future. IE graduates are exceptional people with exceptional skills, and are in great demand from law firms and in-house legal departments in many sectors around the world. IE's LL.M. in International Legal Practice is the beginning of a bright future for you.

Career Management Center

The Careers Management Center acts as an active partner as you map your career path, teaching you the skills needed to rise to the challenges you will face in the labor market and to achieve your future career goals that brought you to the LL.M. program. The center facilitates the job search of all students and alumni by providing access to a range of resources, and remains at your service throughout your professional life.

The Careers Management Center achieves this through the following:

  • Individual career planning and coaching sessions with center staff.
  • Seminars and workshops on career orientation, market research, effective interviewing, networking, CV & cover letters and salary negotiation, led by center staff and external specialists.
  • An interactive web page and virtual library, providing access to a large number of online resources (career management books, self assessment tools, employer databases, employment search guides, online media, useful links…). More specifically, the Careers Management Center offers premium access to many online resources such as The Vault, Workmaze, CareerLeader, Dun&Bradstreet.

The Careers Management Center offers companies, executive search firms and headhunters an efficient recruitment service, tailored to their individual needs. Attracted by the quality and diversity of our students and graduates and by the flexibility of our services, a large number of recruiters look to IE year after year in their search for top professionals. In 2005, more than 5,500 job offers for students and alumni were handled through the Careers Management Center job board.

To maximize your contact with companies, the Careers Management Center carries out the following activities.

  • Annual Careers Fair
  • On-campus presentations and interviews
  • Round tables and special events

Training and Advisory Service

The Career Management Centre helps students develop the necessary skills required for successfully overcoming the challenges of today's job market.

As part of all our programs, students attend various seminars including:

  • Writing and improving your CV
  • Self-assessment
  • Planning a career change
  • Negotiating job offers
  • Making professional contacts
  • Preparing an interview
  • Performing in assessment centers

We also offer information sessions on legal and work-related matters to all present and former students from outside the EU wishing to work in Spain, as well as at least one individual session with a staff member of the Careers Management Centre.

Job Bank

To facilitate your job search, the Careers Management Center has created the IE Job Board, a password-protected web site where companies can advertise vacant positions exclusively to IE students and alumni.

Our job board is now one of the most popular and effective in Spain with over 10,000 regular users. It is made accessible to all students 3 months before graduation and remains open to IE alumni throughout their careers.

Job Board Statistics*

  • Offers published on job board in 2005: 5,500.
  • Interviews induced by job board in 2004: 2,100.
  • Employment contracts resulting from job board in 2004: 620.

* The numbers of interviews or concrete job offers extended through a job posting on the job board include only the processes that were reported by the students, alumni or corporate recruiters to the Careers Management Center. It is probable that the actual figure is higher due to the fact that the Careers Management Center is not always aware of all the interviews or job offers that took place following a job posting.

These statistics refer to the total amount of offers published by the Careers Management Center. These offers can be accessed by all IE alumni and all students that are currently in their last 3 months of studies.

In addition to the job board statistics, over 1,000 students and alumni visited the Careers Management Center in 2005 and received one-to-one counseling sessions on assessment of job offers, CV and cover letter, career choices, job search techniques and other career related areas.

Annual Careers Fair and On-Campus Presentations

Every October, IE is the venue for the Careers Fair, an event where the leading firms and companies seeking qualified personnel have an opportunity to make contact with IE's LL.M. students. With over 100 firms and companies in 2004, the IE Career Fair is now the leading fair for LL.M. students in Spain.

In addition, the Careers Management Center organizes on-campus presentations by leading firms and companies, to facilitate their contacts with LL.M. students as part of the recruitment process.
